  • The Mission Continues

    As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

  • No Hesder - No Reserve Duty

    After Barak announced yesterday on the cancellation of the army arrangement with the Har Bracha Hesder yeshiva, in lieu of the failure of Rosh Yeshiva Eliezer Melamed to appear for a "hearing" scheduled by the Minister of Defence, a letter signed by 100 graduates of Har Bracha was sent to the IDF Chief of General Staff. The letter stated: "If the Hesder is cancelled, reserve duty will also be cancelled. The IDF is showing us the way out, so we will leave on our own accord."

  • Hesder Yeshiva Rejected

    Who is against who? The Defense Minister invited Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Bracha, to a hearing. Rabbi Melamed agreed to come on condition that Barak will declare that it is a talk and not a hearing. The Defense Minister refused. Rabbi Melamed did not come. Defense Minister to the students: "Look for another hesder yeshiva."

  • Approved Despite Opposition

    With a majority of 21 in favor against five opponents from the Labor party, the National Priorities Map was approved in the government. Shas voted in favor of the map after developing communities less than five years old and the Gush Katif evacuees were included. This approval occurred after it appeared this morning the vote would be postponed.

    The Attorney General will issue and indictment against the Arab Knesset member Said Naffaa, from the "Balad" party, for meeting with the Deputy Director General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Syria, and for visiting and enemy country after a request to do so was denied. The Knesset member's parliamentary immunity will be temporarily suspended. Naffaa: "This decision is very strange. I will fight it with all the tools I possess."
