Today there will be event to give a name to a new Yeshiva in Sderot that is sponsored by Yeshivat HaNegev, headed by Hagaon Rabbi Meir Yissachar Meir shlita.
The Yeshiva was already founded three years ago with a group of excellent students who came from important Yeshivot Gedolot and built a place of Torah. The establishment of the Yeshiva in Sderot during the period when many residents fled the city that had became the front lines in the attacks from Gaza made a big impact on the city residents.
The Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon Rabbi Yissachar Meir shlita, wanted to mould a spiritual infrastructure for this city. Indeed, the Yeshiva today has about one hundred students and has taken an honorable place in the Yeshiva world.
In addition to the Rosh Yeshiva Hagaon Rabbi Yissachar Meir shlita, the Yeshiva is headed by Rabbi Yisrael Meir Shalom shlita, Rabbi Dov Man shlita, Rabbi Aharon Schwartz shlita, Rabbi Yaakov Friedman shlita, Rabbi Moshe Botbol shlita, and Rabbi Shlomo Wachselbaum shlita, and more important rabbis. There is also an important Kollel there, headed by Rabbi David Sampolinsky shlita.
The Yeshiva will be named today Heichal Eliyahu, under the auspices of Yeshivat HaNegev; it is named after Rabbi Eliyahu Halevi Shemaah z’l of Brooklyn, one of the principal supporters of Torah and chinuch. Maranan v’rabbanan shlit’a sent letters of blessing in honor of the event.
