Hundreds of Jewish residents of Moscow attended the hadlakah in the center of the city
Hundreds of Jews attended the annual hadlakah in the center of Moscow, near the Kremlin, where a giant menorah is lit by the Chief Rabbi of Russia every year.
The event was covered by all major media outlets of the CIS and was watched by hundreds of millions or people. The event opened with the speech of Moscow Mayor Mr. Yuri Luzhkov , who participates in the event every year.
The Mayor thanked the Russian Chief Rabbi on behalf of the city, and promised to assist the Jewish community at all times.
Chief Rabbi or Russia Rabbi Berel Lazar recited the berachos and lit the menorah while a band played lively Jewish music on a large stage.
The crowd began singing and dancing in large circles and the heartwarming experience overcame the freezing weather.
