  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

MK Maklev: Building Frozen? The Government must Compensate

MK Rabbi Uri Maklev introduced a bill that would require the government to compensate those harmed by the freeze on construction in the territories.

David Shmueli 01/12/2009 14:46
Public Petitions Committee Chairman MK Rabbi Uri Maklev introduced a bill today (Tuesday) in the Knesset that would require the government to take responsibility and compensate the damage due to all citizens harmed by the government's decision to freeze construction.

In the law’s explanatory notes MK Uri Maklev explains that the government decision to freeze the building causes many citizens who took upon themselves a heavy mortgage, and some have even begun to make the mortgage payments, while simultaneously paying rent on the apartment where they now live, are in a situation that might cause them economic collapse.

He also noted that various professionals involved in the construction industry have signed long-term contracts, and a decision of this type will cause them wide damage.

Consequently MK Uri Maklev filed a bill that requires the government to compensate all those harmed by the government's decision for the amount of damage caused. This will prevent economic collapse of many families.

Public Petitions Committee Chairman MK Uri Maklev requests that the compensation be made immediately and without delay, so as not to expose those affected to financial distress.
